These methods have been widely used in phlebology for over 20 years. In 2016, we were among the first in the world to start using the third-generation (1940 nm) laser. It is a modern and popular solution that is both effective and less traumatic. After the procedure, the patient can resume their normal lifestyle within just a few days.
Total EVLA
A 100% laser operation that has gained rapid popularity worldwide but was developed in Latvia. In 2018, this method was created by vascular surgeon Dr. Ints Ūdris, who shares his expertise at global congresses and international conferences. The latest and most innovative method is minimally invasive – it does not cause scars or bruises, as no incisions are made and only the diseased veins are closed. This method has practically no postoperative side effects, and there is no need for shaving or epilation of the legs. It replaces miniphlebectomy. This method has gained popularity in European, Asian, and South American countries and is used only by highly qualified vascular surgeons.
VenaSeal™ Closure System
Vein closure with cyanoacrylate glue (bioglue) is the only non-thermal endoluminal vein surgery method. The vein is closed from the inside using a special biological glue – the VenaSeal™ Closure System, which later turns into connective tissue. This ensures quick recovery and minimal discomfort. Moreover, this method does not require shaving or epilation of the legs.
Sclerotherapy
Performed using foam technique and ultrasound guidance. To ensure precision (for smaller blood vessels), polarized light lenses and a vein illuminator are used. This auxiliary device increases the effectiveness of the procedure, allowing the sclerosant to be injected with maximum accuracy. Sclerotherapy is the gold standard for closing small veins.

How to Prepare for Surgery?
Modern vein surgeries don’t require special preparation. Your doctor will provide the necessary instructions during the consultation.
How Does a Vein Surgery Work?
First, during the consultation, an accurate diagnosis is made. Then, the doctor discusses the options with the patient and chooses the most optimal treatment method. On the day of surgery, you will need to arrive at the clinic shortly before the procedure. The modern surgeries are pain-free, as vein treatment is done under local anesthesia. The operation takes from 45 minutes to two hours.
What is the Recovery Time?
After the procedure, it is recommended to move around and take a one-hour walk. The next day, you can resume your normal routine.
What Will Happen If I Delay Treatment?
Over time, vein diseases only progress. If left untreated, symptoms such as fatigue, “restless” legs, pain, and even cramps will worsen. The unsightly vein network will become more visible, and persistent skin pigmentation and non-healing ulcers may form on your legs.
Such a condition can be life-threatening, as clots may form and, if detached, can lead to a pulmonary artery embolism.
How Long Will the Recovery After Surgery Take?
After the surgery, there is usually no pain, and recovery takes just a few days.
When Can I Return to Work and Daily Life After Surgery?
If your job does not involve prolonged standing, sitting, or lifting heavy objects, you can return to your normal work routine the next day. If the aforementioned restrictions apply, it is advisable to refrain from working for a couple of days.
